Addiction ...

Leads to Withdrawal .....

I didn't realize it'd gotten this bad. I mean, sure, I'd participate every once in a while. And, sure, it got to where I was partaking more often than just every once in a while. But still. I thought I had it under control.

And then came the final game of the season. A heart breaker all the way around.

And, thus, my obsession with hockey was over.

*wails* Oh the horror!!!

And, to make matter worse, I'm going to be forking up the money for a season ticket here soon. A season ticket that I'll have no choice but to look at longingly for the next FIVE months. But that's not the worse of it. *puts the back of wrist to forehead* Oh no! I had to torture myself even more.

At the end of the year, the club puts its season jerseys up on ebay. They do charitable auctions all throughout the year and then this final auction of both home jerseys and away. Well, *sighs* I couldn't resist. I promised myself I wouldn't, but I have no self-control. I bought my favorite player's (an enforcer ... the fighter) jersey.

So now I'll have something else to torment myself with.

Oh the horror!!

(P.S. - As you can probably tell, things are going well here in Daphne land. Maybe I'll get around to a more serious update later. But don't count on it. *big grin*)

Too Much Excitement

First event worth noting: Yesterday I was elected to the trustee board of the local public library (*grins broadly* how nerdy am I?! I love it).

Second (and more exciting): I'm an aunt (again)!

At 5:52 p.m. today, William Ezra was born. Mama is doing well (she's so different than she was when Mae Belle was born), and Papa is very proud. My maman is through the roof and flying to Pluto she is so deliriously happy and my pere is quite pleased as well.

I'll get some pictures up as soon as I can manage.

.....

Oh, and I got some new books. *grins* Baby and books. What more could a person ask for?

Magicians, Warriors, and Vampires, OH MY!

These two are actually supposed to be magicians, but I could easily see them being the vampires (not so much the warriors though ...). *sighs and stares at them* They're a bit young, but, then again, so am I. Besides, boy toys are supposed to be relatively young, right? *big grin*

I really don't have anything productive or all that interesting to share so I'll being shutting up here soon (so you can admire the pretties if you so choose). I just thought I would share what my recent re-obsession with vampires has brought me.

Hmm, I believe I'll offer these two the option to immigrate to Newfoundland once I'm on the throne.

It's Genetic

Conversation from the other day:

Me: Were you talking to me, Mae Belle? (my niece)

MB: No.

Me: *looks around and sees no one but her and myself in the room* Oh. Well. Do you hear voices in your head too? (Ha ha.)

MB: *calmly* Yes. *continues playing with her little people*

Me: *blinks* Oh! Well, do they have names?

MB: *still not really paying attention to her nutty Aunt Daphne* Lele, Kiki, Wawa, and Coco.

Me: Okay. Those are nice names.

MB: They have special talents.

Me: *blinks again* Well who knew?

So there you have it. Although technically any genes that she and I share actually came from my mother and/or father, I'm still saying it's genetic!

Who Cares that Evil Twins are Cliche!

Ever since I "finished" (or at least declared I was no longer writing) THE THING (also known as Adeline's novelish type story), I have had a rather perplexing and annoying dilemma.

What the hell am I going to name my heroine?

It might seem rather obvious that her name is Adeline Montague. After all, I got my start with Adeline, her voice is the one that narrates the darned thing, and … well … damn it, that's what I've got written down!

But, (as everything else in my life is) it's more complex than that.

Adeline Montague is really a young girl that appeared on a fan fiction loop a couple of years ago. She wrote about pranks, her boss Scot, and the mischief she got into with her friends. Due to time constraints, she disappeared from that loop and emerged on another one. There she made the transition from Squire to being the descendant of a god. She's made a lot of friends along the way, written some silly (and not so silly) stories, and had a lot of varying experiences as other characters have come in and out of her life. So how can I just pretend all those don't exist?

I can't really, but since some of what I've written previously on the loop is in direct opposition to what I wrote in my THING …. how do I reconcile the two? The easy way is to pretend that my writing on the loops doesn't exist (but ack! I've already acknowledged it here – the place I hope will some day be my official blog … oh woe is me *winks*).

As you might have figured out by the irreverent comments, I'm not real fond of that route. See, I know how people are; I figure eventually someone's going to find all that and poke at me. Besides, I'm proud of what I wrote, and the people I wrote it with. There are a lot of talented writers I've had the privilege to plot with. I want other people to see their stuff (so that I'll have allies in my poking at these people *grins*).

Which means that I have two other options: I can acknowledge Adeline's stuff and credit it to my misspent and misguided youth before I truly understood my character (*makes the yeck face*) or I can rename Adeline …..

Hmmmm …. you know, I see a not-so evil "twin" named Adelaide in Adeline's very near future. Any thoughts or comments?
